Vagabond Anime: An Essential Pioneer Or An Unnecessary Gamble For The Japanese Industry?

Vagabond Anime

The Anime Industry has grown significantly from a niche domain to a global phenomenon. Meanwhile, manga has become an emotion that showcases stunning lore from Edo, Japan, to the Modern World. Likewise, fans are buzzing around with excitement as Fortiche dreams of unraveling the legendary life of Miyamoto Musashi through a Vagabond anime adaptation!!

Takehiko Inoue is an honored Mangaka in the Japanese Fictional Industry who has delivered astonishing Mangas like Slam Dunk, Real, and Vagabond. However, his legacy continues as Vagabond, one of the classics, has influenced many worldwide through its impressive storyline and exceptional character development.

Meanwhile, some fans criticize Fortiche for tackling the Vagabond anime adaptation as they fear that the animations may lack the enthusiasm that only manga can provide through its iconic panels. On the other hand, some fans believe that the adaptation should be given to studios like Mappa, UFO Table, or Studio Bones.

Without further ado, let’s delve into the aftermath of the Battle of Sekigahara!!

Charrue’s Dream to Adapt Vagabond Anime Might Come True!!

Vagabond is all about the heroic life of Sword Saint Miyamoto Musashi, who served his life as a Japanese Strategist! Moreover, Inoue’s artwork focuses on Musashi’s upbringing after the Battle of Sekigahara as he wanders and explores the world of being a vagabond. Seeking inspiration from this stupendous Seinen Manga, Pascal Charrue, co-founder of the French Studio Fortiche, seems to adapt the series soon.

According to Crunchyroll reports, Charrue said, “It’s a masterpiece with incredible depth and stunning artwork that would be fascinating to bring to life in animation. Although Naoki Urasawa’s  work (Monster) has already seen multiple adaptations, they remain a significant source of inspiration for us.”

As we all know, Studio Fortiche has done amazing work behind Arcane and will do so if they adapt Vagabond in the future. However, Charrue expresses his emotions towards Vagabond and says he would love to bring Inoue’s creation to life with staggering animations. Eventually, he raises concerns about the pacing in anime, a common flaw over the years.

Is it Necessary to Release Vagabond Anime?

Supervising Charrue’s statement: Vagabond will likely get an anime adaptation in the coming years. Even though this project is a huge gamble, fans pray for the best and wish to witness the vivacious life of Miyamoto Musashi. However, Japanese fans are more sensitive to their roots and historical events, so the project also has a chance of being canceled.

Besides pacing, Vagabond is nearly impossible to animate because of its visually stunning artwork (and no one wants to witness another losing prospect like Berserk!!). So, in my opinion, some Mangas should remain as they are (especially Seinen).

Though Slam Dunk might have received an anime adaptation and a blockbuster movie, it’s way too hard to animate Vagabond while depicting each panel accurately and with slow pacing!! Furthermore, suppose Vagabond Anime releases in the future. In that case, the studio will mark it as a seasoned anime due to its extensive storyline, which would require a lot of skilled employees to animate the detailed artwork of Takehiko Inoue.

Conclusion

Pascal Charrue has raised a global opportunity that can become a heavenly delight for fanfare worldwide. Even though it’s just a statement from Fortiche, fans eagerly anticipate the date for an official announcement of Vagabond anime. Till then, read Sword Saint’s epic journey on Viz Media
